Lurgan Credit Union's Direct Debit facility is one of our most popular facilities that we offer you the member. This enables you to make payments on your account either into savings or loan repayments or indeed it allows you to do both during one transaction. How long does it take to set up a Direct Debit?
Four weeks are required to set up a direct debit on a member's account. This time is required to allow administration within Lurgan Credit Union; once this is completed the bank has to be notified of your intention to pay Lurgan Credit Union with a Direct Debit.
Can I set up a Direct Debit to come out of someone else's bank account to go into my Credit Union account?
Yes, you can set up a Direct Debit to come out of someone else's bank account as long as the account holder signs the bank mandate part of the direct debit form.
Is there a charge for setting up or canceling my Direct Debit?
Lurgan Credit Union Limited does not charge for setting up, amending or canceling Direct Debits. Although there may be a charge imposed by your bank, you will have to check with them.
How much notice do I need to give to amend or cancel my Direct Debit?
Lurgan Credit Union Limited requests a minimum of three days notice to process an amendment or cancellation to a Direct Debit, any less than this may result in your bank account being debited in error. Please note that Direct Debits should be cancelled with Lurgan Credit Union Limited and not your bank.
